The Very Beginning !
Manhattan Sound was the original baby of Mr Darren Lowery, who at the tender age of 16 set up his first disco in his bedroom with basic decks and a torch which he used to flash in time with the music.  Darren would regularly perform for family occasions and get great feedback.

Darren then decided to expand and up the level of professionalism.  This meant that he actually had to spend some money and buy good equipment.  However, a problem suddenly developed.  What to call the company ??  After weeks of deliberation and some, quite frankly crap names, It was Darren's Father over Sunday lunch who came up with the name.  That was back in 1990 and the name has been there since.
 

History of Manhattan Sound
During the early part of 2001, Darren decided to concentrate his efforts and time on his other business - SELLING disco equipment.  He put Manhattan Sound up for sale and it was sold to its current owners Paul and Nicola Thompson.  (If you are interested, Darren still sells Disco Equipment.  His website is www.discoworlduk.com)

Paul and Nicola have invested a significant amount of money in upgrading the existing equipment and purchasing new roadshows.  At the same time, a great deal of staff resources has been invested in training new staff and developing the existing members.

Paul and Nicola have developed Manhattan Sound into the biggest company of our type in the North of England.  We employ 12 professional DJs & Karaoke Presenters, have 8 discos, 3 Karaokes, PA systems of all sizes and many other strings to our bow.
 

And Now....The Future
Manhattan Sound continues to go from strength to strength.  But does anyone really know what the future holds ??
